Bio

Phil Thomson is a Vancouver-based listener, theorist, soundmaker and curator who completed his Master of Fine Arts at Simon Fraser University. His sound works have been heard on CBC, in concerts in Canada and abroad, as well as on releases by labels from Italy, England and Macedonia. As a curator, he has curated the weblabel centibel, a "Listening Room" at the Bartlett Gallery in Vancouver, and, at the request of the Canadian Electroacoustic Community, a gallery for the sonus website. His first publication is the article "Atoms and Errors: Toward a History and Aesthetics of Microsound," which appeared in the British journal Organised Sound, published by Cambridge University Press.
